Rashford stars as United dump Everton out of the FA Cup

Man United ran out 3-1 winners at Old Trafford, knocking Everton out of the FA Cup, as Marcus Rashford continued his rich vein of form.

Rashford has now scored in 5 games on the run, this time bagging in the 97th minute to confirm United’s place in the next round.

Rashford played a long cross just 3 minutes into the game, for Antony to score early on and put the pressure on Everton. The blues got back into it after David De Gea somehow failed to kick the ball, leaving an easy tap in for Connor Coady.

Coady then scored an own goal after Rashford attacked down the left, and played in another cross which the Everton defender turned into his own net. Rashford then got a late penalty to confirm the result – watch the highlights below:

After the game, Man United Manager Erik Ten Hag said:

“It is himself [the reason why he is flourishing this season]. He has the skills, I am supporting him, I am motivating him, that is clear. I think I put him on the right position on the pitch, but to be fair he can play across the whole front line and in some cases behind. We can use him also as a tactical weapon, and he is scoring from every position. If he keeps this focus, I am convinced he will score even more goals. If he keeps investing in training, investing in the games, I’m sure – I’m convinced – he can keep the goals coming in this run.”
